Being the default file manager in Gnome and Ubuntu, Nautilus has done its job well. You can add bookmarks to your frequently used folders, view folders in tabs, connect to a remote server, right-click to extract zipped files, synchronize with Ubuntu One and many other useful stuff. However, sometimes you may find that it is a a bit lacking in some areas, like the ability to open folder in terminal, run file as administrators, mount ISO file etc. This is where Nautilus Action Extra comes into action.
Nautilus Action Extra is an action script for Nautilus that adds plenty of useful options to the context menu (the window that pop up when you right-click your mouse). Once installed, you will get feature like “Open file in terminal”, “open file as administrator”, “repair filename”, “check sum” and many other advanced options easily accessible from the context menu.

The context menu is the small window that popup when you right click your mouse. When you right click your mouse on a file/folder, the context menu will show a list of useful options for you to choose. The bad thing is, it is usually not configurable by default. For example, while keeping Firefox as the default browser, you want to open a particular Internet shortcut with Google Chrome. The current configuration of the context menu doesn’t allow you to do so.
Luckily there are several useful tools that allow you to edit your context menu.

Have you ever wanted to change the item listed in the context menu in Firefox and find that there are no ways for you to change it in the Preferences section? The Firefox browser comes with a list of preset items for your context menu and is supposed to be the most useful options during browsing. Since we all have different browsing habit, won’t it be great if we can rearrange the items in the context menu and add/remove items to enhance our efficiency?
Firefox does not comes with such option for you to change the context menu, so we have to rely on the menu editor extension to get the thing.
