While Amazon has many self service options on its website and mobile apps, sometimes you need to talk to a customer support person, if you have a problem or complaint. This guide shows how to contact Amazon customer service and its network of sellers.

How to Contact Amazon

There are many ways to contact the Amazon customer support team, including live chat, email, phone, social media, and an Alexa speaker.

Via Live Chat

There are no direct links on the Amazon website for live chat, but it is possible, following the steps below.

First, go to the Customer Service section on the Amazon website. You can also get there by clicking Help at the bottom of any Amazon page or by clicking your username at the top, then Your Account -> Customer Service.

"Help" section at the absolute bottom of the Amazon homepage.

Click Something else, then I need more help to open a Live chat window.

"I need more help" section in Amazon customer service webpage.

It’s easier to use Live Chat on Amazon’s mobile apps. Tap the hamburger icon (three lines) at the bottom of the app’s home screen, scroll down, tap Customer Service, then tap Chat with us.

"Chat with us" section in Amazon mobile app (Android.)

No matter which device you use to access Live Chat on Amazon, you’ll see Amazon’s messaging assistant. It will ask you to select a button to reply. You’ll get options like payment, Amazon Prime, order status, and more. If you don’t want to repeat yourself, select I need more help, then Chat with an associate now.

Select "Chat with an associate now" using Amazon's Live Chat app.

It takes a little while for the associate to join the chat, as it’s subject to availability and the business hours of your location. Once your curiosity is resolved, click End this chat to finish the conversation. On a web browser, do a right-click to make a printout of the conversation.

Via Email

To email Amazon customer support, use cs-reply@amazon.com. Use the email address registered with your Amazon account, and summarize the issue in the subject line. Email support is useful if you need to share many screenshots, photos, or videos. You should get a response within 24 to 48 business hours.

Good to know: beware of Amazon phishing emails and texts, where scammers try spoofing an official Amazon alias to deceive unsuspecting users.

Via Phone

To contact Amazon support in the U.S. or Canada by phone, call the toll-free number, 1-888-280-4331, 24/7. Once you talk to a bot, click I need more help to connect with a real person. Be sure to use the same phone number registered to your Amazon account, as you may need to enter a one-time password or get a link texted to you.

These numbers can change, so it’s a good idea to have them call you. Use their Call Me service by briefly describing your issue and giving your phone number (preferably the one registered with Amazon). Click Call me now to get an Amazon bot to call you. You need to dig in a little bit, and it will eventually connect you to a human customer care executive.

For those outside the U.S. and Canada, connect to Amazon using one of these international numbers: 1-(206) 922-0880, 1-206-266-2992, and 1-888-280-4364.

Tip: use a Venmo QR code for making and receiving payments on online services like Amazon.

Via Social Media

If you prefer using social media, contact Amazon customer support on different social media platforms.

  • X users can tweet their concerns by sending a private message to @AmazonHelp. They usually respond within a few hours.
  • On Facebook, visit the official Amazon page, and click Send message to forward your query to the Amazon Facebook team.
  • On Instagram and TikTok, message Amazon customer service directly by mentioning @amazon.

Via Alexa

On an Amazon Echo, say, “Alexa, I want to speak to someone with Amazon customer support.” The speaker will help you navigate the issue you are facing.

Remember, for Amazon’s own products, there’s a separate Digital Services and Device Support team. You can ask them about Amazon Echo speakers, Fire TV and tablets, Amazon smart home devices, Kindle devices, etc. Once you click Start a chat now, it will associate the Amazon devices connected to your Amazon account. Select one of them to proceed with troubleshooting.

How to Contact a Seller on Amazon

You can contact an Amazon seller both before and after the purchase of a product. To contact them beforehand, go to the product page. You will find the seller’s name under Sold by, along with other sellers.

Click the seller you want to interact with, and you will be redirected to the seller’s page on Amazon. Click on Ask a question to reach a chat window featuring a Seller Messaging Assistant. Pass your message to the bot, and it will forward the message to the seller. You will get an alert on your Amazon account once your query is answered.

Post purchase, the best way to contact a seller is to go to Your Orders on the website or mobile app. Select your order, click Problem with order, select Contact seller, and type your message. The seller will get an alert, and once they respond, you will get an alert on your Amazon account. Once the return window for the product is over, you can no longer query the seller.

How to Contact Amazon Support About Missing Orders

Your Amazon product may be missing, or the tracking status won’t change. This can happen due to technical issues or if the seller can’t deliver on time. To fix this, go to Your Orders, and check the tracking information. If it hasn’t updated in a while, contact Amazon customer support.

On the Your Orders page, click Problem with order, then select Where’s my stuff? followed by Contact us. Engage with Amazon customer service through the regular channels: live chat, phone, or email.

If you’re a frequent Amazon buyer, minimize your customer support hassle by signing up for an Amazon Prime subscription.
