Make Tech Easier exists to make technology clearer and more useful. We are responsible for the accuracy, sourcing and usefulness of every article we publish.

Our editorial lanes

We publish in five lanes: Tech News, Fixes & Troubleshooting, How-To Guides, How It Works, and Tech in the Real World. Lanes describe an article’s editorial purpose. Subject categories such as Windows, Linux, Android, iOS and Internet describe the technology it covers.

Sources and verification

Important factual claims should link to the primary or most authoritative available source. News requires a current, dated source and enough context to explain why the development matters. Instructions must identify supported versions, use current interface labels, explain risky steps and tell the reader how to verify the result. Explainers must distinguish useful simplification from exact technical detail.

AI-assisted production

AI is part of how we produce articles, including research, drafting, editing and checks. Every important claim is supported by a named, checkable source.

AI-assisted work stays in draft until a member of our team has reviewed the sources, factual support, headline, links and final article and approved it for publication.

Bylines

Staff articles appear under the Make Tech Easier Editorial byline. Articles by an individual contributor carry that person’s name.

Reviews, recommendations and opinion

Reviews, comparisons and recommendations must be based on stated evidence, named sources and clear tradeoffs, not implied hands-on testing. If we did not use a product ourselves, we say so. Opinion and analysis are labelled as such, kept separate from news and published under the name of the contributor who owns the argument.

Commercial independence

Advertising, affiliate relationships and sponsorships do not determine our editorial conclusions. Relevant commercial relationships are disclosed near the affected content.

Corrections and updates

We correct material errors and update practical guidance when products or interfaces change. Send a correction with the article URL and supporting evidence to corrections@maketecheasier.com.
