Apple’s new iMac with M6 starts at $1,499 in the US and begins reaching buyers in 35 countries and regions on Friday 6 November 2026, with pre-orders opening on 28 October 2026, Apple said in a press release on 27 October 2026.

The release gives US prices only, and those are the figures used here.

The $1,499 model has a 10-core CPU and a 10-core GPU. A version with a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU starts at $1,699. Apple lists education prices of $1,449 for the base model and $1,599 for the 12-core model, open to current and newly accepted college students and educators.

Two dates for buyers

Pre-orders open on 28 October 2026 on apple.com/store and in the Apple Store app.

Deliveries to customers begin on Friday 6 November 2026, the same day the computer arrives in Apple Store locations and at Apple Authorized Resellers. Apple said the launch covers 35 countries and regions, including the US. Its release does not name the other markets.

Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering, said in the release that the new iMac “has everything users need to run their businesses, manage their lives, and bring their ideas to life.”

What Apple says M6 adds

Apple says the iMac with M6 is up to 18x faster than the most popular Intel-based iMac and offers up to 5x faster on-device AI performance than M4. The chip has up to a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, each with two more cores than the previous model, plus a Dual 16-core Neural Engine.

Apple also claims up to 2x faster graphics than M4 and storage that is up to 2x faster.

The comparisons go back further for owners of the M1 iMac. Apple puts performance in Microsoft Excel at up to 2.5x faster and on-device AI prompt processing in LM Studio at up to 12x faster than that model.

The display is a 24-inch 4.5K Retina panel at 500 nits, with a 12MP Center Stage camera. The machine has Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, up to four Thunderbolt 4 ports and support for up to two 6K external displays, and 2.5 Gigabit Ethernet is available. It ships with macOS 27, which includes Siri AI and Apple Intelligence features.

Seven colours are offered: blue, green, pink, yellow, purple, orange and silver, each with colour-matched accessories.

Apple Trade In gives credit toward a new Mac in exchange for a current computer. Eligible customers in the US can lease the iMac with M6 through Apple Upgrade from $28.99 a month for 36 months, excluding taxes and any trade-in credit.
