Do you know how often your cat uses the litter box or if their potty is normal? Monitoring the litter box isn’t glamorous, but it’s often the first sign of health issues. The SiiPet LitterLens camera helps keep track of any abnormalities to help you take even better care of your furbabies.

Adorable Design For All Litter Boxes

I didn’t expect a litter box camera to be cute and make an otherwise not-so-pretty area look a nicer. The adorable owl makes it seem less like a camera and more like a watchful friend as the kitties do their business.

But what I love most is that it’s compact and fits in with any litter box. This includes closed and open designs. Mount it at the correct angle, and you’re all set. If you’re worried you may need to change litter boxes just to use the camera, whatever you have, the SiiPet LitterLens Camera is compatible.

Another well-thought-out feature of the design is the included light. After all, if you’re like me, you don’t have a dedicated light on your litter box at all times. The lower half of the camera features a bright night light that illuminates the area.

I do wish there was a way to dim it or turn it off during certain hours. A few of my cats didn’t love having the spotlight on them during their private time. I’d love to see this in a future app and firmware update perhaps.

Designed for Single and Multi-Cat Homes

Trying to monitor how often your cat uses their litter box and spotting possible issues is difficult enough with one cat. Now, imagine my life: keeping track of eight. Yes, it’s nearly impossible.

But inconsistencies with frequency, how long they spend per visit, and stool consistency are all early indicators of health problems. While it could just be adjusting to a new food or short-term stress, the sooner you’re aware of a problem, the quicker you can discover the cause and get them to the vet if needed.

The SiiPet LitterLens lets me monitor all of my furbabies in the same app, with the same camera. The downside is multi-cat households typically have multiple boxes. You will need a camera for each box. But, you get to monitor all the cameras in the same app, letting you consolidate the data.

First day monitoring in SiiPet app.

For my tests, I tried to place the camera in the most frequently visited litter box. Naturally, I missed quite a few visits since I have several other litter boxes as well.

However, it only took a few days for me to see just how useful this camera was. I have an older, shy cat (Autumn) who always seems to go without anyone ever noticing. Now, I know exactly when she goes and how often. And, if you have senior cats, you know just how important that is for making sure they’re staying hydrated and don’t have any underlying health issues.

Ultra Simple Setup and Guide

I fully expected a difficult setup. From getting mounted to setting up the app, I was ready for it to take at least an hour. The SiiPet LitterLens Camera is one of the easiest devices I’ve ever set up.

The included paper instructions are sparse. It’s mainly just QR codes to download the SiiPet app. But, the app steps you through everything you need to know.

The camera comes with a mount (stick-on, so no need for screws or hardware), quick setup guide, and USB charging cable.

Within five minutes, I was already mounting the camera. This is the hardest part. I used the app to view the camera in real-time to make sure I got the perfect angle to view the entire litter box. I placed mine just above my open litter box. It adjusts up/down and side to side slightly.

Camera on adjustable mount.

In less than 10 minutes, I had the mount in place. It has to sit for at least 30 minutes before sliding the camera on. The mount is solid. I could easily adjust the camera slightly once sliding it in place without the mount moving at all.

The app also stepped me through adding each of my kitties. Each cat gets a name and profile image. The app suggests a clear image to help it recognize the cat better.

Monitor All Interactions in the App

I got my first notification within minutes of mounting the SiiPet LitterLens. The light startled my cat Dean to start with, but then he got down to business. At first, the app asks you to confirm which cat is using the box. Expect this at least four to five times to help the app recognize each individual cat.

SiiPet LitterLens notifications.

Within seconds after a visit, I get a notification about what they did and how long it took. A baseline takes seven days so that the app gets to know your cat’s habits.

The weirdest thing was getting notifications about what the cats leave behind. I was asked to confirm whether it was normal or not. It’s a strange picture to pop up on your phone, but I totally get the reason. Just be prepared for random litter box pics in your notifications.

The app lets you quickly see each cat’s profile. Check their daily, weekly, and long-term stats at any time. You can even view videos of each visit to see if anything seems wrong.

One benefit I didn’t expect was knowing exactly when to clean the boxes. Since I knew how many went and what they did, I knew when to start scooping to keep everything nice and clean.

All videos are clear, making it super-easy to tell who’s in the video and exactly what they did while visiting.

Easy to Clean

The SiiPet LitterLens is a rechargeable camera, so there are no wires for your cats to nibble. Of course, this means you’ll need to remove it regularly for charging. I know, no one wants to touch a camera that’s been that close to all your kitty’s private business.

Washing camera.

The camera is easy to rinse. Just don’t fully submerge it or use any harsh detergents. It’s also a good idea to rinse before or after charging to keep the camera lens clear of any litter dust.

The charging port is covered with a waterproof plug, so you’ll have no worries as long as the plug stays in place.

Battery Life Depends on Number of Cats

The camera is advertised as having up to a month of use per charge. This is the biggest downside I’ve found. For multi-cat households, you’re not going to get anywhere close to that. In just a few days, mine went from fully charged to 74 percent. By day six, I had to charge it.

Of course, the battery life fully depends on how many cats you have. Fewer visits equals longer times between charges.

Perfect for Early Detection to Save You Money

Cats aren’t able to tell you when something’s wrong, unless you’re a minute late for meal time. The sooner you detect an issue, the quicker you can get them the help they need. Plus, it prevents issues from worsening.

The SiiPet LitterLens gives you ample data with charts and videos to show your vet. There’s no more guessing – just the facts. And, for cats who already have health issues, this camera helps you monitor their litter box habits to determine if medications and treatments are working or if you need to consult your vet again.

Camera on a blanket.

Basic monitoring and notifications are free, but to track and keep activity for a month or more, along with long-term data analysis, AI analysis, stool monitoring, and more, you’ll need a SiiPet Care+ plan which starts at $5.90/month. New users get two months free.
