Nintendo will release a remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the Nintendo Switch 2 on November 5, 2026, and players will be able to play Link’s ocarina by humming into the console’s microphone, according to Nintendo’s official store page.

The game is exclusive to Switch 2 and was built from the ground up for the system, Nintendo says.

The remake carries overhauled visuals, orchestral music, voice acting and expanded cutscenes. Link can jump and dash, and the store page lists modern camera movements among the control changes. Characters big and small get new and expanded dialog, and Nintendo describes the result as an entry point into the series.

Nintendo calls it a classic tale. Ganondorf plans to steal the Triforce from the Sacred Realm, and Link must become the Hero of Time and save the kingdom.

Hum, play or press

The ocarina can be played in more than one way. The store page says players can use Link’s Fairy Ocarina or the Ocarina of Time “with traditional button controls or try humming, or even playing your own instruments into the Nintendo Switch 2 microphone”.

The songs Link learns have effects in the game, such as opening new paths and changing day to night.

Ranged weapons such as the Fairy Bow and the Hookshot can be aimed with buttons or with motion controls. That choice is in the Options menu.

A companion service called Zelda Notes runs inside the Nintendo Switch App on compatible smart devices. It shows the day’s accomplishments, sets challenges to find locations in the game from images, and lets the player play an ocarina on the smart device itself.

A Nintendo Account, a compatible device and a persistent internet connection are required, and the service is not available in all countries.

A news item dated October 14, 2026, on the store page promotes a new overview trailer for the game.

File size, bonus and extras

Nintendo puts the estimated game file size at 27 GB, with support for TV, tabletop and handheld modes.

Anyone who buys the digital version before Nov. 23, 2026, at 11:59 p.m. PT gets a Legend of Zelda 40th Anniversary digital wallpaper as an early purchase bonus. The wallpaper is offered in several formats for different screen types, and the download link arrives by email through My Nintendo after the promotion period ends.

Tapping any Legend of Zelda series amiibo figure, sold separately, unlocks extras in the game. New Young Link and Young Zelda amiibo figures, due in 2027, give masks that evoke a retro graphical style. Nintendo also lists a special edition Switch 2 system on the same page.

The game is single player, supports Nintendo Account family group lending and Save Data Cloud, and outputs HDR and VRR on compatible TVs.

Nintendo says ratings and download size may not be finalized at the time of preorder. The ESRB rating lists Animated Blood and Fantasy Violence, and the game supports 16 languages, including Japanese, British English, American English and Polish.
