Apple has set Friday 6 November 2026 as the ship date for the new 14-inch MacBook Pro with M6, which starts at $1,999 and $1,899 with education pricing, according to Apple’s announcement on 27 October 2026.
Pre-orders open on 28 October 2026 in 35 countries and regions, including the United States, according to Apple.
The M6 chip has a 12-core CPU and a 12-core GPU, each with two more cores than M5, along with a Dual 16-core Neural Engine. Apple says graphics performance is up to 30 per cent faster than M5 and on-device AI workloads such as LLM prompt processing run up to 25 per cent faster.
Memory starts at 16GB of unified memory and can be configured to 32GB, with bandwidth up to 170GB/s.
“The 14-inch MacBook Pro is the pro laptop of choice for a wide range of users,” said Shelly Goldberg, Apple’s vice president of Hardware Engineering.
Battery and connectivity
Apple says the machine runs for up to 24 hours on a charge, “the longest ever in a Mac”.
That figure comes from Apple testing carried out in September 2026, and the company says battery life varies by use and configuration. Measured against older machines, Apple puts the gain at up to 14 additional hours for people moving from an Intel-based Mac and up to four more hours for those coming from M1.
Wireless support moves to Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, with support for up to two external displays.
The port array includes HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4 ports, an SDXC card slot and a headphone jack. Fast charging reaches up to 50 per cent in 30 minutes when paired with a higher-wattage USB-C adapter such as Apple’s 96W Power Adapter, according to the company.
Display, camera and software
The Liquid Retina XDR display is rated at up to 1600 nits of peak HDR brightness and a 1,000,000:1 contrast ratio, with a nano-texture option that Apple says reduces reflections and glare.
The laptop has a 12MP Center Stage camera with Desk View, a three-mic array and a six-speaker sound system with Spatial Audio. Colour options are space black and silver, with an anodisation seal on the darker finish that Apple says leaves fewer fingerprints.
It ships with macOS 27, which Apple says includes Siri AI integrated into Spotlight and systemwide context menus, plus Apple Intelligence features such as Safari tab grouping by topic, website change alerts and automations in Shortcuts created by describing them.
Apple has also published comparison figures for people upgrading from a 13-inch MacBook Pro with M1, including up to 11.7 times faster ray-traced rendering in Blender and up to 2.5 times faster project builds in Xcode. Against the 14-inch MacBook Pro with M5, the same tests come out at up to 1.3 times faster.
Leasing through Apple Upgrade starts at $38.99 per month over 36 months in the United States, excluding taxes and any trade-in credit.
The enclosure uses 100 per cent recycled aluminium, and Apple says the laptop is made with 45 per cent recycled content overall.
