Apple’s first foldable iPhone, the iPhone Duo, starts at $1,999, has an inner display that measures 7.58 inches as a standard rectangle and will be available from Friday 23 October, Apple said.
Apple announced the phone on 9 September. Pre-orders opened at 5 a.m. PT on Friday 16 October in more than 70 countries and regions, including the US and the UK. Apple says 28 more countries and regions will follow from Friday 30 October.
Apple markets the inner screen as 7.6 inches and the outer screen as 5.4 inches. A footnote in the announcement says the display has rounded corners that sit within a standard rectangle. Measured as that rectangle, the inner screen is 7.58 inches diagonally and the outer screen is 5.36 inches. The viewable area is smaller.
Apple says the inner display is 50 per cent larger than the display on the iPhone 18 Pro Max, and the outer display offers 90 per cent of the screen area of the iPhone 18 Pro. Closed, the phone is similar in size to a passport, Apple says.
The Apple Store page lists four US prices by storage: 256GB at $1,999, 512GB at $2,199, 1TB at $2,599 and 2TB at $3,199. Apple offers two colours, star white and night sky. The entry price works out at $83.29 a month over 24 months, Apple says.
Leasing through Apple Upgrade, provided by Klarna, starts at $57.99 a month on a 24-month term. Apple says the lease price excludes taxes and any trade-in credit.
Within 30 minutes of pre-orders opening, every configuration in Apple’s US online store showed a shipping estimate of 25 January, meaning 25 January 2027, according to MacRumors, which was reporting what Apple’s US online store displayed. Apple’s store page, viewed on 18 October, read “Available starting 10.23.”
Apple says the Duo uses the A20 Pro, the same chip as in the iPhone 18 Pro models. The frame is grade 5 titanium and the phone carries an IP68 rating for water and dust resistance. Apple quotes up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner display and up to 44 hours on the outer one.
The phone is eSIM only worldwide and ships with iOS 27.1. Apple says Apple Pencil support with USB-C will arrive later this year on either display. Siri AI, the new version of Siri, is rolling out in beta and will not be available initially in the EU, according to Apple.
What it means for you
The 256GB model is the cheapest Duo at $1,999 in the US and the 2TB model the dearest at $3,199, with the 512GB model at $2,199 and the 1TB model at $2,599 in between.
Both screens measure a little under Apple’s marketing figures when treated as a standard rectangle, which is why the headline says 7.58 inches rather than 7.6.
Pre-orders are open now. Apple lists availability from 23 October, while MacRumors reported January 2027 shipping estimates in Apple’s US online store within half an hour of pre-orders opening.
Apple sells the iPhone Duo Case for $79 in sand or navy blue, and the iPhone Duo Folio with Kickstand for $129 in navy blue or taupe. Both work with MagSafe, Qi2 25W and Qi-certified chargers, Apple says. Apple said both would be available to order from Friday 16 October.
Apple Trade In gives an instant credit of $175 to $885 when trading in an eligible iPhone 13 or higher, Apple says.
