For those who are actively involved in social networks, I am sure you will know that managing multiple accounts is both a troublesome and tedious task. In order to view update from different social networks, you need to log into different accounts and check them out regularly. When it comes to efficiency, this is definitely the worst thing to do. GrabInbox aims to solve this issue by unifying all your social accounts together so you can check the updates from different accounts and send messages to different accounts all in one place.

GrabInbox is not the first in the industry to provide such unifying service. Hootsuite and TweetDeck are two popular services that allows you to access different accounts at one place. What I like about GrabInbox is its simple user-interface and the ability to queue and schedule your messages.

1. To get started with GrabInbox, first go to GrabInbox.com and create a new account. This is what you will see after you login.

2. Start by adding an account. Once it is verified, it will bring you through a 3-steps configuration wizard. The first step involve setting your timezone.

3. The second step is setting the notification option. You can configure the type of update (notification, update, messages, mention etc) to appear in your dashboard.

doesn’t allow you to
4. The last step is an interesting one. It analyses your account and come up with a set of timing that is most appropriate to publish your tweets/message. You can change the timing and the max. no of update though. When you queued your tweets/messages, it will based on these settings.

5. At any point of time, you can click on your account on the left pane and see the update on the right pane. This saves you plenty of time switching between different networks.

6. To compose a tweet/message, simply click the “Share your status message” input field and popup box will appear to let you write your message. You have the option of uploading a text file with longer sentences if you plan to tweet more than 140 characters. Once done, you can either Post immediately or add to the Queue where it will publish for you based on the queue setting you have configured earlier.

7. Alternatively, you can schedule your message to publish at a particular time in the future.

8. If you have to visit GrabInbox everytime you want to send/schedule a message, then it is not user-friendly at all. Luckily it also comes with a Chrome extension and a bookmarklets (for all other browsers) where you can compose a message quickly.

This is how it looks like in Chrome browser:

Last, but not least, GrabInbox allows you to view your scheduled and queued messages and there is an Analytics option (seems to only work for Twitter account) where you can view the number of retweets your tweets have generated.

Conclusion

GrabInbox is a useful and easy to use web services to manage your social accounts. It currently supports only Facebook, Facebook Pages, Twitter and LinkedIn. It would be great if there is mobile apps for Android and iOS, but now, we have to live with the Chrome extension or the bookmarklets which you can only post a message/tweet and not to manage your accounts. It is currently free to register and use and there is no limit of the accounts that you can add. There is also no mentions of pricing and/or whether the product is still in beta or is already a stable release. Nevertheless, use and enjoy it while it is still free, though I think it won’t be long before they start charging a fee for the usage.

If you are an active Google calendar user, I am sure you have the habit of adding important events to it. However, if you are on Facebook or Twitter and you responded to an event invite, there can be times where you forgot to include that event into your Google Calendar and cause you to miss the event. Feedcal aims to solve this problem. With its unique scheduling engine, it will go through your Facebook or Twitter feeds and automatically add important events on your Google calendar.

Introduction

Feedcal is currently in Public Beta and only works with Facebook and Twitter. The salient features of this web service is that you can simply set it and leave it, as it runs automatically in the background.

Using FeedCal

To start using this service, you just need to sign up on their web site. However, unlike many other web services, the sign up process is not so easy. You will need to fill many fields to get Feedcal working for you. In the very first stage, Feedcal integrates itself with your Google calendar and then it will ask you to authorize it with your social networks, either Facebook, Twitter or both. After connecting your accounts with Feedcal, just click on Sign Up button.

In the last step, it will need some of your basic information such as user name and E-mail address. After successfully integrating it with both calendar and social networks, you’re done. Feedcal will take care of the rest for you. Well, as this service in beta stage, you will not see a user-interface or anything like that but it will automatically filter all the events and sync them with your Google calendar. The service will check for updates on selected social networks after every 5-10 minutes. Just tweet about any event or if any of your friend has tweeted about a social gathering on Twitter or Facebook.

After testing it for a while, we found that the service works as described. Events were added to your existing calendar rather than a new one. It will also automatically update calendar after certain time period and pick up the status update or tweets which mention events. The best part is that we can even update those events just like the normal events created in the Google calendar.

Pricing

There are three plans designed by this web service which varies by social networking services you choose and the duration for checking the updates. Each plan comes with a different price, but the first 1000 users will get any of the account for free. Grab it while it lasts.

Conclusion

After using this web service, we came to a point that it is fairly innovative service to save the time. Because by using this engine, we don’t need to even open our Facebook or Twitter accounts to see the upcoming events. All we need to open the Google calendar and we will have an idea about upcoming or ongoing events. So, what do you think that this web service? Do let us know in the comments below?

You can ask Siri a question, have it perform a task, and much more. However, one feature that Siri lacks is the ability to update your social networking websites. Despite Twitter integration in photos, YouTube, and even maps, Twitter and Siri haven’t made the connection yet. While we expect such a feature to be implemented sometime soon, for now users are looking for usable alternatives. Here are steps to help you not get the message “Sorry, I can’t help you with [Twitter or Facebook]” on your iPhone 4S.

Set Up For Twitter

To begin, You must sign into your Twitter account. After you are signed in, point your browser to http://www.twitter.com/devices. Once on the website, enter the required information and click start.

After verification and once your Twitter account is linked with your phone number, create a contact using 40404. When creating the contact, for the full integrated effect, name the contact “Twitter”.

All tweets sent from your iPhone associated with the phone number linked with your Twitter account to 40404 will automatically update your Twitter page.

Alternate Option: At the office or away from your computer, but want to take advantage of this workaround? No problem, there is a computer free way to this “hack”. Simply text “Start” to 40404. You will then be asked a series of setup questions, including your username and password. When complete, add 40404 as a contact (with the name “Twitter” of course) and you’re set!

Set Up For Facebook

For setup on Facebook, go to https://www.facebook.com/settings?tab=mobile&t .

Add your country and carrier associated with your iPhone 4S.

To activate the service, text the letter “F” to 32665. From there, you should receive a text message from Facebook containing a confirmation code.

Enter the confirmation code on the page “Activate Facebook Texts (Step 2 of 2)”. Check or deselect the other options available on the page accordingly. Then, click “next”.

Facebook will give you a code that can be used for updating your Facebook through text messaging. Enter this code as a contact and save. Again, saving the contact as Facebook will increase the feeling of integration.

Alternate Option: Same as with Twitter, there is a computer free option to this workaround for Facebook. Send the message “Hello” to 32665. You will then be given a mobile-friendly Facebook link that will allow you to finish the set up process in Safari. Then, add Facebook as a contact and you’re ready to go. Even though this process isn’t completely done in text messaging (you will be pointed to Safari), it is still a good alternate process.

Launch Siri and Update!

Updating Twitter and Facebook with Siri is seamless after this quick setup process. When you feel a creative message coming on, simply launch Siri by pressing your home button until she appears. From there, tell Siri “Send a text message to [Twitter, Facebook] [your message]”. You will then be asked to confirm the message. With your confirmation, the message is then updated on the respective social networking service.

Things to Remember

This is the best workaround yet for updating your social networking website with Siri. Despite this, there are still a couple of experiences that still remind you that it’s not official or integrated.

For example, not saying “text message” in the command “Send a text message to [Twitter, Facebook]” will either give you the error message of “Sorry, I can’t help you with [Twitter or Facebook]” or it will attempt to launch email. This is a minor inconvenience, but using Siri through this method of updating is a lot quicker than updating directly from the website or application.

We must also remember that Siri is currently in a beta phase, this means that all of the problems are still being worked out. In addition, this also means that Siri isn’t available to third party developers. Once Siri is out of this phase, we can assure you that the social networking websites will be the first in line to offer integration with Siri.

Most of you have accounts on Facebook as well as Twitter. You use these accounts to stay in touch with friends and learn what your favorite celebrities are up to. And then you have an additional account on Google Reader to stay up-to-date on what your favorite websites have to offer. Logging into these accounts separately daily and checking out their material can be a time-consuming process – partly because you are jumping from site to site and partly because there is a lot of content to view every day.

But thanks to Summify the process is made much easier by providing you with all the material under a single interface.

Introduction

Summify is a free to use web service that integrates Facebook, Twitter, and Google Reader. The site lets you connect accounts from these services to your Summify account. Data from these accounts is then gathered and displayed in a reader-friendly interface that lets you not only read articles but also share them with friends. Only the best and trending stories are displayed, saving your reading space and time.

Usage

To start using the service, the first step you need to perform is registering for an account on Summify. All this step requires you to do is enter an email address and a password. In the same step, you need to connect at least one account from Google Reader, Twitter, or Facebook to your Summify account. You get the options to follow Summify on Twitter and subscribe to the site’s blog. Connected accounts are indicated right above the “Create my account button.” When you have connected the accounts, click on this button.

After you signup, you will be asked to add additional accounts or configure how your articles summary.

Clicking on the “Configure your summary” link will take you to the “Summary” tab in Summify’s settings. Here you can specify the frequency of story updates and the number of stories you receive with each update.

In the Feeds tab on the left, you can view the feeds that you have subscribed to. You can delete feeds from here or export them an OMPL file if you want to add them to some other RSS reader.

The settings page can be accessed any time later by clicking on the Settings link in the top right of your Summify interface.

After you have finished signing up, your Summify news feed will take a while to build. This time will range between 2-3 hours. Once the news feed is built, you will see the interesting trending articles gathered from your Google Reader, Facebook, and Twitter accounts.

You can keep scrolling down to view more stories. Share buttons at the bottom let you quickly share a story on Facebook and Twitter. Clicking on a story takes to its official URL where you can read its full version.

Conclusion

Summify is a very helpful solution to the time-consuming practice of separately checking into Google Reader, Twitter, and Facebook for interesting articles. Not only does it gather the trending articles from your feeds for you, but it also let you easily share them with your friends. This service is definitely worth looking into.

It can be a great way to keep in contact with old friends and relatives, but it’s also a great way for third parties to harvest loads of free data that may not be used the way you want. Plenty of social sites have popped up over the years in the hopes of dethroning Facebook, but not many have had the goods, or really provided much that would entice a user to switch.

Not long ago, a couple students got together and decided to do something a little different: an open and distributed social network that did not rely on a single company or website to host all the data. Instead, anyone who wishes can create a node for their friends, and users of these nodes can communicate without handing over all their data. This is Diaspora, and right now it’s in some of the early testing phases. We’ve put together an overview of what Diaspora has got now and where it’s likely to go in the future.

Note: This service is currently VERY EARLY in its development, and is far from providing the same level of maturity and functionality found in a mature site like Facebook. Think of this not as a product but as a preview.

Signup

Right now, if you don’t wish to run your own server node, you need an invite from JoinDiaspora.com. Invites aren’t terribly hard to come by, particularly since the main page offers a form were you can enter your email and they will send an invitation directly to you. As soon as you’re in, you’re given 5 invites of your own to share with friends.

The profile creation is much like you’d find on any similar site, and asks for basic info like name, birth date, and bio.

The next step is to set up your Aspects. This is somewhat similar to the groups you’d find on other sites, but aspects are built right in to the core of how Diaspora is used (more on that later). In short, aspects allow you to sort your contacts into isolated groups which can be read or posted to individually.

Finally, you can choose any other social sites to connect to your Diaspora. This means that by posting to your Diaspora node, you can automatically have those posts sent to Facebook, Twitter, and presumably other social sites in the future.

Home

Your “default” page is Home, and from here you can read your most recent updates as well as post to your entire network.

Here is where the similarities to Facebook start to fade. As mentioned earlier, Aspects are an important part of how Diaspora operates. Instead of one main page where all updates are read and written, you can instead use the tabs, at the top of the screen, to read or post specifically to certain aspects.

A post to the Family aspect will not show up to people under Work. This is important, as it can help prevent some of the notorious “Oh, I forgot that my boss reads my Facebook” problems we’ve all heard about.

Contacts can span across multiple aspects. Damien, for example, is a work contact and a friend, and Diaspora will allow me to put him in both groups where he will see posts to both aspects.

Privacy

The biggest complaint many users (including this author) have about Facebook is their horrendous track record regarding user privacy. In fact, this very thing was one of the major motivating factors in the design of Diaspora.

This is done in three ways: by aspects, by node isolation, and by the fact that no one “owns” or “controls” Diaspora as a whole. Data posted to one aspect is not shared with another, each node holds its own user data that is not propagated across the whole network, and the software itself is free and open source. Combined, this means that no user, server, or company has access to everyone’s data. If an individual node becomes compromised, it does not affect other users on other nodes.

Now before I claiming that Diaspora is bulletproof, I’d like to add another disclaimer about the fact that this system is still in the early stages of development, and quite likely still has some security issues to iron out. However, presuming the server software itself is secure, I believe it’s reasonable to say that the basic design philosophy of Diaspora is much more privacy-friendly than that of many other social services.

Conclusion

It’s still rough, it’s still missing a LOT of features we’ve come to expect from such services, and there aren’t very many users yet. That said, Diaspora clearly has some great design elements, and it’s this author’s opinion that the decentralized node system is probably Diaspora’s “killer feature“. Even if it does not succeed in knocking down Facebook, it’s all but guaranteed that Diaspora will spur innovation in the field, and that’s something that will benefit everyone.

Uploading and sharing photos across multiple social networking websites is a very lengthy and time consuming process. You might have a dozen accounts on various social networks and when you want to share a whole bunch of photos in all of them, you have to devote a good amount of time.

Ever wished you could upload photos to multiple social sites from a central location? Ever wanted to cross post photos from your MySpace account to your Facebook account, without having to find an app, download some extension or sign up for yet another service ? Meet Dropico

Dropico is a brilliant web application which allows you to share photos across multiple social sites instantly. Dropico utilizes a very intuitive drag and drop interface so that you can easily transfer, upload and share photos from one social network to another.

Let’s quickly learn how to set up Dropico.

Getting Started With Dropico

1. First, you have to create an account with Dropico which takes only 30 seconds. Once your account has been created, login to your Dropico profile and you will be taken to the “Connection wizard”, as shown below:

2. Hit “Next” and connect your existing Social Networking and Photo Sharing accounts to your Dropico Account in the following step.

3. When you hit the “Connect” button for a social website, you have to grant all the required permissions so that Dropico can post photos to your profile. As an example: for your Facebook account, you have to click “Allow” in the permission window page.

4. As soon as you have connected a social website with your Dropico account, the “Status” of that social website will be “ON” as shown below:

You may turn off the status of a particular social website to “OFF” at a later point of time. This is a very useful feature which lets you choose the social networks where you want to upload a selected group of photos. Simply toggle the status from “ON” to “OFF”, select the sites where you want to upload or share photos and it’s done.

5. When you are done connecting all the social sites to your Dropico account, hit the “Next” button and you will be given a unique Dropico MOBI email address, as shown below:

The Dropico MOBI service allows you to upload your photos to Dropico from any mobile device with an internet connection. All you have to do is send it as an e-mail to your special Dropico MOBI E-mail address. Every photo sent to this e-mail address from your phone will be saved to your Dropico account

6. In the next step, you can enter your email credentials and invite friends from your email contact list to try out Dropico (optional step, you may skip it).

7. All right, you are done with the setup and ready for the Dropico experience.

How To Use Dropico And Upload Photos To Multiple Social Sites

When you login to your Dropico account, simply drag and drop the social widgets from the right top in the upload panel. Dropico will automatically load all the photo albums of the corresponding social networking site, as shown below:

To upload a photo, drag and drop the image from your desktop to the corresponding widget. All done, now Dropico will upload the image to your social profile automatically.

You may also specify the photo albums where the target picture is to be uploaded and the application will upload the photos to that particular album. You may further choose to create a new album and upload the images or choose to drop them in the “Dropico uploads” folder.

It should not be a big deal, because you can always move the images from one album to another at a later point of time.

Dropico also features Photo Tagging (title, description and tags) and album management tools such as creating a new Album, removing photos from selected albums etc. Hence, you do not need to fiddle around in all the social sites and manage your photo albums recursively, let Dropico take all the hassle of uploading your photos and managing them.

Editing Your photos Using Dropico’s Photo Editor

Dropico’s web based photo editor can be used to edit your photos on the fly. What this means is that you can edit your existing photos on any social network using Dropico’s web based photo editor and the changes will be reflected in the original photo that’s stored in your Facebook account, for example.

The images can be edited in three modes:

Pixlr Express mode – for quick fixing.

Pixlr Editor – for advanced editing options

Pizap Editor – to make funny photos.

To start the Dropico photo editor, click the “Edit” button next to any photo and choose the mode, as shown below:

This will load the photo in Dropico’s photo editing app, you can apply basic photo fixes, add text, crop, pan, zoom, fix colors and other attributes of an image. These are pretty much self explanatory, all the basic and advanced photo editing tools are provided so that you can modify an image the way you want.

When you are done modifying the image, Dropico will post the changed photo to the corresponding social networking account. Isn’t that great ?

Overall, this is one of the best photo uploading and sharing apps we have discovered in recent times. You don’t need to download a desktop tool, any browser extension, bookmarklets, java plugins etc, Dropico works universally from any platform or mobile device.

Do you know any better alternative of Dropico for managing photos across all the social websites? Share your ideas in the comments below.

If you are the type of person who can’t live without internet, wake up every morning and check your Facebook account before having coffee, always tweet a new update every 15 minutes and have a large circle of friends on social media websites – you are going to love RockMelt.

RockMelt is a new web browser, backed by Netscape founder Marc Andreessen, which aims to bridge the gap between social sharing and web surfing. The browser is build around your social circle, feeds, search results and friends.

Request an Invite To Download Rockmelt

Rockmelt has recently entered a public beta but you will need an invitation to download the application. To request a free invite, head over to the RockMelt website and connect your Facebook account.

You will soon receive an email invitation with a link to download RockMelt for free. Once the setup file has been downloaded to your computer, double click to launch the web installer – yes you will need an internet connection to install Rockmelt (just like Google Chrome).

Getting Started with Rockmelt

When you run the browser for the first time, you will be asked to sign in with your Facebook account and grant all the required permissions.

The browser will continuously check your Facebook news feed among other connected sites, hence you should not revoke the permissions later.

Rockmelt completely mimics the look and functionality of Google Chrome. The browser has three main panels – one each to the right, left and top. The right panel is for connected sites, the left panel for social friends while the top panel is for search results and feeds.

Your Facebook Friends Panel in Rockmelt

The left panel of Rockmelt revolves around your Facebook friends, you can create a list of favorite Facebook friends, read their latest status updates and do a lot of other interesting things.

Clicking a friends thumbnail shows you more options – you can start a chat right away without logging in to your Facebook account. The person need not necessarily be using the RockMelt browser, he will receive your chat message on his Facebook profile or any desktop client he might be using.

There are other useful options as well, navigate to the “Recent Activity” tab and you can see the recent links shared by your friend on his profile. You can click through any shared link, image, video and it will open in a new browser tab.

Double click the profile thumbnail to open your friends Facebook profile on a new tab. You may hit the “Write” button to write a message on your friends wall or send a direct message.

You can again “Like” an update or post comment directly from the RockMelt window, it’s very sleek and fun to play around with.

The browser will also show live desktop notifications near windows system tray, whenever there is a new status update from a friend or someone sends you an IM. These desktop notifications can be turned off from the browser’s preferences and you can completely customize which notifications you want to see.

Should you want to take a quick look at your Facebook news feed, simply hit the Facebook icon at the right of the browser window. This will open a small pop up with all the links, posts, videos and images shared on your Facebook wall.

Adding Connected Sites And Feeds in Rockmelt

Social media is not only about people but also about the websites you visit on a regular basis. If you read a lot of articles on blogs, RSS feeds and watch YouTube videos – RockMelt’s connected sites panel will come in handy.

The connected sites panel is on the right side and lets you do a few important things. First, you can add RSS feeds from blogs, websites and other sources and read them one by one on an overlay window. You may also add your other social networking profiles e.g YouTube channel, Twitter account or Friendfeed lifestream and then read the corresponding updates in their own overlay window.

For example: I added the Maketecheasier RSS feed as one of the sites and now I can read the recent articles in a new overlay window:

Agree this is no alternative of a full featured RSS reader like Feeddemon or Google reader but can be useful if you follow a handful of blogs and want to read the updates directly from the browser’s sidebar. The social sharing options are also tightly integrated, hit the share button next to any feed item and the blog post is shared over your Facebook wall, with your custom comment of course.

Whenever there is a new update on any of your connected sites, a notification is shown in another overlay pop up. This differentiates the connected sites panel with your bookmarks toolbar, which sadly never shows any notification or recent updates.

Using RockMelts Search Bar And Sharing Features

One of the nice things about RockMelt is the ability to preview search results directly from the browser’s search bar. Type a keyword or a phrase and hit the return key to preview Google search results on a browser overlay, as shown below:

You can again use the “Share” button place just right to the address bar to share any webpage on your Facebook wall. The webpage can either be shared as a link or can be sent as a message to selected Facebook friends.

All in all, RockMelt is a must used browser if you do a lot of social sharing and use Facebook as the primary medium for online marketing. It doesn’t get better than this – from surfing websites to sharing links to getting instant notifications, RockMelt will keep you ahead of the curve.

Try out RockMelt today, if you do not have an invite yet – ask some of your Facebook friends because chances are that they have already given RockMelt a try.

Just like pipes that connect you from one place to another, Pixelpipe is a web service that connects you from the real world to the virtual world, by allowing you to upload your media content from desktop and mobile to a plethora of social network sites, all at the same time.

We have previously covered Pixelpipe in our top 20 mashup sites, but apparently, Pixelpipe has added tons of improvement that it worth a mention again. This time round, we are focusing on the mobile app (particularly Android).

For those who have not heard of Pixelpipe, it is a connector that links you to the various social networking sites. For example, if you have taken a ton of photos/videos in a party and wanted to post them to various sites like Flickr, YouTube Facebook, Twitter or even your own blog, you can either manually upload them one site at a time, or use Pixelpipe to upload them all to various sites at the same time. Each social networking site is known as a pipe. You just need to add the pipes to the Pixelpipe account and you can post to them instantly.

Pixelpipe for Android

When you run the app for the first time, it will prompt you to login to your account. If you do not have an account, you can either sign up for a new account right within the app, or visit the Pixelpipe website from your desktop.

Once you are logged in, you will see 4 main tabs: Media, Post, Queue and Settings.

Settings – adding pipes to your account

Let’s start from the “Settings”. Before you can upload to various sites, you have to add pipes to your account. Go to the Settings tab and you will be able to add, edit, delete pipes.

There are 100 destinations that you can add, so I am pretty sure you can find the one you need.

Uploading your media

Once you have added your pipes, you can start to upload your content. The Media tab is where you see all your media content – photos, videos and audio – in your phone. From here, you can select the media content and upload them to your pipes.

Blogging from Pixelpipe

If you have set up a blog in your pipes, you can also post to your blog from the Post tab. You don’t get too many features here, except for a title field, message field and the tag field. It is great for sites like Posterous and Tumblr, but a little limited for WordPress blog. One more thing, you can toggle your post between a status post or a blog post.

Other than the default feature within the app, Pixelpipe also integrates itself with your mobile camera. Immediately after you have taken a photo/video, the Pixelpipe upload option will pop up instantly and ask if you want to upload your photo to your pipes.

This camera integration is turned on by default. For those who find it annoying, you can turn it off at the Settings.

Pixelpipe is available in many forms. Other than its website, you can also access Pixelpipe via email/MMS, instant messaging client (Google talk, Yahoo messenger and Jabber/XMPP), Firefox extension, Google Picasa and various mobile device like the Android, iPhone, Palm Pre and Nokia N series phone. This is definitely a must for social-media addicts.

Long past the times where you just publish your blog content and people will come. Nowadays, to ensure that your readers can receive your latest update, not only do you need to have a RSS feed for your site, you also need to aggregate it to various social networks.

Dlvr.it is a web-based service that aggregates your RSS feed(s) to various social networks. Instead of using various services to update different social sites, you can now combine them all to one place.

Usage

To get started, simply go to the Dlvr.it home page, enter your RSS feed to the input field and click “Get Started”.

The first thing that it will do is to prompt you to create a dlvr.it account. Once you have completed that, the next step is to select the social network that you want to publish your feed to. The initial setup only show the three most popular networks – Facebook, Twitter and LinkedIn. You can add more networks when you get into the dashboard later.

When you are done setting up the social networks, click “Finish”.

Dlvr.it will then prompt you if you want to post the most recent item now or start posting from the next update.

Make your choice. That’s it.

That’s not the best part yet…

So you have setup your feed and the social networks to publish to, is that the end of the story? Not yet, the best part is yet to come.

When you get into the dashboard, this is where dlvr.it really shines.

There are just so many things that you can customize in the dashboard that they might overwhelm you.

There are four main options – Deliveries, Stats, Post and Settings

Deliveries

Everytime you setup a RSS feed and the places to publish to, you have created a route. Each route is make up of a source (your RSS feed) and the destination (places where your feed are published). You can add multiple feeds to the sources, multiple networks to the destination or even multiple routes, each with different sources and destinations.

Sources

In the Sources pane, you can get it to update your feeds, edit the feed options or to delete the feed. When editing the feed, you can change the feed detail, feed update interval, add a custom message to each feed item, setup filter, scheduling etc.

Destination

For the destination pane, you can add more social networks to it. Networks that are supported by Dlvr includes Twitter, Facebook, LInkedIn, Tumblr, Statusnet, Ping, Google Buzz, MySpace and FourSquare.

Routes

Under the Route setting, you can also setup filter, install google analytics code and even define your own short url service.

Stats

Keen to know how your feed is performing at the various networks? Dlvr.it got you covered. In the Stats option, you can monitor the performance (number of clicks) of your feed on various networks, from an overview right down to the individual social network breakdown.

Post

The Post is where you can enter custom text and post it to your social networks. This is specially useful if you are making an announcement about your product (or whatever). You can choose to post your message to any of your routes or any individual accounts that you have set up. You can even schedule it to post at a particular time. It will be even better if it has a repeat option to post the same message at regular interval.

Settings

The settings is where you can change your account email/password and add your own url shortening service.

Conclusion

I have only played with dlvr.It for 5 minutes and it completely blew my mind away. It may look simple from the outside, but it is really the inside that make it shine. If you have not used it, check it out now. I am sure you won’t regret it.

Out of the total time you spent online, how much time did you spent in searching and social networking site? A lot, I would say. In fact, I won’t be surprised if that take up the bulk of your Internet time, at least it is for me. Being a blogger, most part of my time online are spent searching for article ideas and sharing stuffs across multiple social networking site. Not very productive, I know. Luckily, there is Kwiclick.

KwiClick is a Firefox extension that unifies all your searches and social sharing tasks. It aims to improve your search experience and efficiency by displaying all the stuffs in a non-intrusive window. It allows to do more work (search and sharing) without having to leave the current page. Let’s take a closer look.

Getting started

After you have installed KwiClick, the first thing that it does is to change the behavior of your search. Whenever you perform a search (in the search bar), instead of loading the search result on the current page, a small window will now pop up showing the search result. You can then click on the search result to get it load on the current browser. It also responds to the mouse middle click to open the link in a new tab. Alternatively, to perform a search in KwiClick, you can click on the icon beside the search bar. This will also open up the search window.

At the bottom of the window lies a row of icon where you can select the site to retrieve your search results from. Available sites include Google, Wikipedia, YouTube, Friendfeed, Twitter, Flickr and Google Maps and many more.

The best part about this small display window is that it allows you to search for content without having to leave your current page. This non-intrusive display window floats above your current page and can be closed/reopened easily. Furthermore, it allows you to search content from various sites and provide real-time results (Twitter).

Get quick, instant result while surfing the Web

let” s say while you are surfing the web and come across this term that you want to check it up in Wikipedia. Instead of opening a new tab, go to Wikipedia.org and search for the term, you just need to highlight the term. A set of icons (known as Search Clover) will appear above the highlighted term. You can then click on the ‘W’ icon to perform a search in Wikipedia.

You can perform the same trick with address (on Google maps) as well. Highlight the address and select the Maps icon. The address will instantly show up in Google Maps. One thing I noticed though – it only searches US address. I can’t get my local address to appear with the Map function.

Easier and faster social sharing function

When you are on media sites like Flickr, Youtube or Vimeo, you will immediately notice a new row of toolbar appear on top of the video/photo.

This toolbar allows you to view the video/photo on a separate window so you can continue to surf the Web with the video still running in the front end.

In addition, you can also easily share the video/photo without having to go to the social networking sites.

Backend configuration

It is also good to see that there is a bunch of configuration options in the backend. You can decide what appear on the Search Clover, how it reacts to the highlighting of the terms, the look and feel of the display window, mouse actions in the search results and many more other options. If you have installed a mouse gesture extension, you can also configure it to work in KwiClick.

Conclusion

After trying out this extension, I have decided to keep it because it is just so darn useful for me. What about you? If you have tried it, do let us know if it works for you.

Social networks have taken the Internet by storm. Almost everyone these days has an account on Facebook or is obsessed with Twitter (or both). And while bloggers like us love social networks, not everyone can keep up with all services they sign up with.

Take me for example, I used to be an avid Orkut user (Yes, yes, I liked Orkut .. sue me!), but have almost stopped visiting the site since I joined Facebook. I also had an account on Myspace and hi5 before Orkut (and then Facebook) pulled me away. And of course, I use Twitter !

Oh and when I say I moved over to Facebook, that only means that I don’t log-in to hi5 or Orkut anymore. I still have accounts there, though. And I’m reminded of that fact every couple of days when I receive an email from them asking me to “reconnect” with some of my lost buddies.

If you, like me, are sick of such reminder emails, I think it is time to delete your profiles on those social networks that you don’t use anymore.

The social networks, on their part, don’t really make it easy to find the option to delete your profile, obviously, so we’ve listed out ways to do that on some of the most popular networks around.

Orkut

To delete your Orkut data, click on the Settings link and under the General Tab, you’ll find a link that says Delete my Orkut Account. Click on that link.

hi5

hi5 is another one of those social networks that used to be quite popular some time back but most people moved on to other networks when their friends moved on. Your account is still there, though, and to delete your account click on the Account link and click on the button that says “Cancel my account“.

Twitter

Among all the social networks that I’m on, Twitter is probably the most addictive and if you also seriously think that it’s becoming a hindrance to your offline social life and want to get rid off it, click on the the Settings link in the top right hand corner of your screen and scroll down to the bottom of the Account tab. You’ll see a link that says, Delete My Account. Click on it.

Facebook

When it comes to social networks, Facebook, is the big daddy of them all. See how I said Big daddy and not the grand daddy. Facebook is a relatively new network and if you already have friends on other networks that you don’t want to lose touch with, why bother with Facebook, right?

Deleting your facebook profile is probably the toughest of them all, because Facebook doesn’t really provide a method using which a user can delete his/her account. All they let you do is deactivate your account, which means that your data is still with them, but no one will be able to interact with you on the site.

Click on the Settings link in the Top right corner of the page and Select Deactivate from the Settings tab.

To really delete your account from Facebook, though, you’ll have to contact their customer service team and ask them to delete your account.

Which other social networks are you guys a part of? Do they let you delete your Account with them or keep your data locked up forever?

There are plenty of sites and programs out there that will let you upload your pictures or videos to one or two of your social media sites, but people like choice. Would 50 supported sites plus email and FTP uploading be enough? That should let you share enough stuff to make even your Kindergarten teacher proud. The whole point of the the social sites is to be social and show people whats going on in your life; ShoZu will help you do this on almost every popular sharing site out there.

When a picture or video and the accompanying text is uploaded, ShoZu will CC your email and/or other destinations you choose. If you upload the same thing to all of your sites, that feature alone will save you immense amounts of time. Below are a couple ways media can be uploaded a couple different ways:

The Desktop Application

The ShoZu desktop app runs with Adobe Air, so you need to have that installed along with the most recent version of Adobe Flash installed before the app will work. Once the desktop application is installed, if you have previously set up an account, you will need to log in. If not it takes a minute or two to set up a new account.

When logged in, you will see the list of destinations you have previously chosen on the web page. This can be a couple, or it be a lot; I have a few here that I use.

The process for uploading pics, video or text is super easy. Simply drag and drop the media you want to share into the window. The picture or video will show up in the window. Type a short caption in the small box and any additional text into the big box. Some sites won’t show the extra text.

*For those wondering, the picture is of a 12 pound bowling ball painted pink with lots of metal flake. It was chained to the soon to be groom’s leg for a bachelor party.

If you would like to send the same thing to multiple sites from time to time, click the next destination; the picture and text stay in the windows making it super simple. The program remembers what you upload to where. After you upload a picture, a check will be by the destination so you don’t post the same thing on the same site multiple times.

From a Mobile Device

These day more people than ever have data enabled phones. One of the main reasons people like yourself purchase this kind of phone is so they don’t need to be tied to their computers for work. This also applies for uploading pics to their social media accounts. The device I use is a Blackberry Curve; it is a little limited compared to other devices I checked into. Some of the features like the feeds from Twitter, Facebook and Podcasts do not come to to the Blackberry app. I was a little sad about this, but I have other apps that I have grown accustomed to using for that stuff. From other devices, having the ability to see what your friends are doing, makes ShoZu a one shop application for mobile social networking needs.

The upload of the pictures, video and text is very similar to the desktop application. Select the picture, add text and the destination. Quick and simple, exactly what you want from the your mobile device.

Mobile Blogging

If you fancy yourself a blogger, being able to add posts on the fly is great. Sites like Blogger, WordPress, Livejournal, Windows Live Spaces and more let you post on the go. Here is a post to a WordPress blog to give you an idea of how it will look.

Other Features

Citizen Journalism Sites sites like CNN, BBC News, and Reuters let you upload newsworthy pictures Some other places you can upload your photographic wonders to via ShoZu are Email and FTP sites.

With the laundry list of features ShoZu has, I am sure it will fit it well with anyone who has the need to share media online.

How do you update your social networks?
