I just installed the latest version of mobile press and it uses themes to change the layout of your blog, so in my experience the duplicate content issue will exist.

To fix this issue you need to add the correct mobile doctype, and the canonical url to the content. However, mobilepress uses the same url for mobile content so canonical urls won’t work. I think it would be better to server you mobile content from a domain like m.example.com and use canonical urls to solve duplicate content issues.
