Is there any way to get the Mac Time Machine software to close the backup file when not in use? I use the HP MSS with WHS to store my Time Machine backup file. The WHS complains (Conflict: File is Open) when the backup file has been open for more than 24 hours because it is not able to do its regular "house keeping" tasks. If I shut down the Mac Time Machine software and dismount the share drive where it is stored and then run a DE (Drive Extender & Drive Balancing) on the WHS this does clear the error.

So if there was a way in Time Machine perhaps via this set up screen to request that the Time Machine software closed the backup file when not in use that would be very helpful.
